Schmersal added to the Encyclopaedia of German Global Market Leaders

Schmersal has been added to the Encyclopaedia of German Global Market Leaders (the “Lexikon der deutschen Weltmarktführer”). This publication describes the history, products and key innovative developments of around 1,000 German companies, most of which are medium-sized and have been owner-run for several generations. The first edition was published in 2011 and was very well received. A new, completely revised second version was released in January 2015. To celebrate the première of the latest edition, the publishers hosted a Summit Meeting for Global Market Leaders in the Kunsthalle Würth art gallery on 27 January 2015. A special English edition (WORLD MARKET LEADERS) is also due to be published as part of the series “The Best of German Mittelstand”. This version will be sent to all German embassies and Goethe Institutes around the world. There are also plans in place to publish parts of the Lexikon in digital form. Furthermore, the media agency will be working with the German business magazine “Wirtschaftswoche” to create a database containing information on all the companies in the Lexikon.
Schmersal is now listed in Wirtschaftswoche's database as an innovative market leader for machine safety solutions. Its ongoing development activities have resulted in a number of new patents for the company, the most important of which are for the first contactless position system for lifts (2001) and CSS technology, a new principle for safety sensors (2007). Schmersal has registered almost 300 patents in the area of safety technology since 1955.
