Video shows training project

The Schmersal Group co-initiates a project for the training of young people in India.  "Our goal is to educate qualified talent for our production plant in Ranjangaon. That is why we have got involved with the project VETnet by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, IGCC. We have participated in the Steering Committee, which has prepared a corresponding pilot project", says Heinrich Brüllau, Chief Operating Officer of Schmersal India Pvt. Ltd.  In India, the IGCC (Indo-German Chamber of Commerce) operates a network for the promotion of dual training along German lines. This is called the vocational education and training network (VETnet) and includes companies, educational institutions and other institutions in India. The VETnet project is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research. The VETnet pilot project started in early March 2015 with 11 trainees from various German - Indian companies in Pune, including a trainee from Schmersal India. The VETnet pilot project offers a basic course in metalworking with theoretical practical lessons, which is to be conducted at the Don Bosco Training Institute in Pune. "The pilot project is first and foremost for the gaining of experience, because we are entering completely new territory", says Heinrich Brüllau. The start of training at Schmersal India in the field of metal processing is planned for the 1 October 2015. In cooperation with neighbouring companies, initially up to twelve trainees are to complete three years of training to become tool and industrial mechanics, based on the standards of the dual education system in Germany.
To do this, Schmersal will set up a training workshop at its production plant in Ranjangaon. After completion of training, all apprentices who have demonstrated their competence, will be taken over by Schmersal as qualified employees. To learn more about the training project please see this video.
