Safety Training Courses

Our tec.nicum engineering services offers several training courses on machine safety

tec.nicum is our Engineering Services group within Schmersal. through tec.nicum we offer a series of safety training courses designed to educate people on machine guarding practices and principles consistent with current national and international machine safety standards. Courses are offered online (live), in our North American headquarters in New York, and at various locations around the country throughout the year. We can also tailor the content and duration of sessions to focus specifically on a customer‘s needs for online or in-house presentation.

Continuing education units (CEU): tec.nicum is accredited by IACET to the ANSI/IACET 2018-1 Standard for Continuing Education and Training (CE/T). This accreditation further supports our commitment to delivering high-quality trainings to our Learners by passing the IACET rigorous accreditation process. Learn more here

Instructors All courses are presented by a TÜV Certified Functional Safety Engineer for Machinery from our tec.nicum Group. Their experience will bring the expertise that you are looking for in a machine safeguarding specialist.

General Machine Safety Training

Anyone responsible for the design, operation, or maintenance of machines needs an understanding of safety systems. This course covers legal requirements, risk assessment, types of hazards, the several levels of circuit design, and available types of safety equipment and how they all come together for a complete safety solution.

Lock Out Tag Out

Review OSHA and ANSI regulations pertaining to the LOTO process, the required training programs and the practical use of implementing LOTO as well as acceptable alternative measures

ISO13849 - Understanding and Implementation

ISO13849 is a global harmonized standard relating to the risk assessment, design, and performance of safety control systems on machinery. This standard is accepted worldwide as the principle safety control design guideline and it represents a major change in the philosophy of hazard analysis and design of safety related parts of machine control systems.

Safety Circuits and Wiring

Learn the theory of safety related control systems and its practical application in this hands-on course. Students will use training boards to wire a mix of components in order to meet specific safety control requirements.

Risk Assessment - Understanding and Conducting

This two day course helps you understanding machine hazards and develops your ability to qualify and quantify them. This class works with your team to develop a version of a tool that you can use to perform machine safety assessments. Identify the hazards, while presenting ideas on how to remedy those hazards with proper guarding measures is key to having a successful machine safety program.

OSHA Outreach Training Program

To help ensure you are more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and your rights, you can
attend the 10-hour or 30-hour OSHA Outreach Training Program. This course covers more than just machine safety, and includes fire protection, egress, HAZCOM, PPE, and fall protection, among other topics.
The 10-hour class is intended to provide workers with awareness of common job-related safety and health hazards, while the 30-hour class is more appropriate for supervisors or workers with some safety responsibility. Sessions are taught by a OSHA certified instructor.
