New seminars in tec.nicum programme

Two new seminars are to be held at the Schmersal tec.nicum in Bietigheim-Bissingen in March: "EMC and electrical safety in practice" and "Industrial robots".
As well as other regulations such as the Machinery Directive, the EMC Directive is among the statutory requirements which must be fulfilled in order for machines and systems to be approved for distribution in Europe. EMC stands for Electromagnetic Compatibility, i.e. the ability of a piece of equipment, an installation or a system to work satisfactorily in an electromagnetic environment without causing electromagnetic interference. This means the products must comply with interference emissions thresholds and also be resistant to interference. The seminar, which is aimed at machine manufacturers and dealers, highlights the procedure for EMC measurements and testing, and explains electrical risks and the implementation of the directive in practice. The speaker is engineering graduate Wilfried Straßmann from engineering company Wilfried Straßmann in Michelstadt.
There is also a new seminar on "Industrial robots" which covers the correct design of machines and systems from a technical safety perspective. The course provides the necessary basic knowledge on robots and robot technology. The speaker, engineering graduate Matthias Umbreit from the Wood and Metal Trade Association, Mainz, introduces various types of robot and their applications and explains the safety and legal issues which need to be considered. The target group is machine manufacturers and operators, safety engineers, designers, planners and monitoring office employees.
